2021 Toyota Supra gets a Targa Top

Toyota has shown the 2021 Supra Sport top which gets a nice Targa top, for the virtual SEMA trade show of this year. The concept of the new 2021 Supra Sports Top is based on last year’s Heritage Edition that was shown at the SEMA show and honors the open-roof A80 Supra of the 1990s.

The 2021 Supra Sport Top is based on these two but the roof has been removed and converted into two 3D printed composite roof panels that can be stored in the trunk when it is removed. Toyota has worked with the KC’s Paint shop in Fort Worth, Texas to remove the roof and the 3D printing is done at Toyota Motor North America R&D headquarters in Ann Arbor, Michigan. The Plano, Texas, the team has worked on the latches and clamps, and also, they worked on the body after the loss of the roof. The pain shop has finished custom bodywork and coated Supra in paint mix to match the body paint i.e., Zero White. the round taillights, 19-inch HRE wheels wrapped in Toyo Proxes rubber, and Brembo brakes are also added.

It is powered by a turbocharged 3.0 L inline-6 that produces 389 horsepower and 368 LB-FT of torque that is up by 47 horsepower and 3 LB-FT of torque by the 2020 model. The 3.0 Supra gets from 0 to 60 mph in 3.8 seconds.

As of now, Toyota hasn’t confirmed that a production version will happen or but we are hoping for it. Also, we expect that Toyota will add a removable roof option to the Supra fifth-generation.
